Sports Betting Week: NFL Preseason Ends
After surprisingly naming Trevor Siemian their starting quarterback the Denver Broncos close out the preseason Thursday night against the winless Arizona Cardinals.
The Broncos are 2-1 straight up and against the spread in the preseason after defeating the Los Angeles Rams 17-9 as a 6-point favorite last week. This week against the Cardinals they are a 4-point road underdog at online sportsbook Bovada.
After last week’s win the Broncos are 8-3 SU and ATS in their last 11 preseason games. The Cardinals, who are 0-3 SU and ATS in the preseason this season, are 2-8 SU and 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10. Last season Denver hosted Arizona in the preseason and the Cardinals came away with a 22-20 win as a 4.5-point underdog.
The Dallas Cowboys will also have a different quarterback than expected starting when the regular season kicks off after Tony Romo broke a bone in his back last week. Dak Prescott gets the starting gig and he’ll get his final warmup on Thursday against the Houston Texans.
Dallas lost to the Seattle Seahawks 27-17 as a 5.5-point underdog last week, dropping them to 2-10 SU and 4-8 ATS in their last 12 preseason games. Houston is a perfect 3-0 SU and ATS in the preseason and at Bovada they’re a 1-point road favorite against Dallas.
Last season Dallas defeated Houston 21-14 as a 3-point underdog in the preseason and in eight preseason matchups the Cowboys are 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS.
Something’s got to give Thursday night when the winless Chicago Bears and winless Cleveland Browns square off. The Bears are 0-3 SU, but did cover in one of those losses and sit at 1-2 ATS. The Browns have lost four preseason games in a row both SU and ATS and in their last 11 they’re 2-9 SU and 3-8 ATS. At Bovada Cleveland is listed as a 3.5-point home favorite.
Last season Chicago blanked Cleveland 24-0 as a 1-point favorite in the preseason. The final score fell UNDER the posted total, which is a regularity when these two teams meet up. In the last 12 preseason matchups the UNDER is 8-4. Overall the Bears are 5-1 UNDER in their last six preseason games and the Browns are 6-0-1 UNDER in their last seven.
