Sports Betting Week: Thunder Try to Roll
In the NBA on Tuesday night the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs square off in a pivotal Game 5 of their opening-round series. The series is tied 2-2 following a 111-97 win by the Thunder in Game 4 as a 2-point home favorite at online sportsbook Bovada. Kevin Durant netted a game-high 41 points to will Oklahoma City to the win and even the series.
Wednesday’s NBA schedule will include two games, but whether or not they will be elimination games depends on what happens Monday Night. On the docket Wednesday is Game 5 between the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors, and the Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors. Game 4 of both series is Monday night with Toronto and Golden State holding 2-1 series leads.
At Bovada the Warriors are massive -2500 favorites to take their series with the Trail Blazers. Toronto is also favored in their series at Bovada, but by nowhere near as much at -210.
In the NHL this week the Washington Capitals will look to avoid elimination again when they face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night. Washington won Game 4 by a score of 3-1, but still trail 3-2 in the series. The latest series odds at Bovada peg the Penguins as a -300 favorite and Washington as a +250 underdog. If the Capitals can survive, Game 7 would be in Washington on Thursday,
The rest of the NHL schedule this week includes "if necessary" games on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars will clash in Game 7 if the Stars win Game 6 on Monday night. On Wednesday it’s Game 7 between the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators if Nashville can win Game 6 on Monday.
The series to keep an eye on in MLB this week is an NLDS rematch between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers. Back in October the two teams went five games with the Mets escaping with a 3-2 series win. Overall last season the Mets were 7-5 against the Dodgers, which included a 4-2 mark in Los Angeles.
This week’s PGA Tour stop is The PLAYERS Championship. Rickie Fowler won this tournament last season, but at Bovada he’s a +1800 underdog to repeat. The favorite is Rory McIlroy at +750, followed by Jordan Spieth at +900 and Jason Day at +1100.
