Super Bowl 55 Prop Odds Preview
Super Bowl 55 may still be more than a week away, but the sportsbooks have already posted a multitude of props for the big game.
At Bovada Sportsbook, this year’s prop list is so long it’s possible you could have money riding on the pregame activities, every play of the game, the halftime show and the postgame celebrations. Today we’re going to focus on pregame and in-game props.
Coin toss always a popular betting option for Super Bowl
One of the most popular props every year is the coin toss. It’s a simple 50-50 shot at picking heads or tails. At Bovada, both sides of the coin are listed at -105. You can also bet on which side will win the coin toss, with both the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers listed at -105.
Once the game begins, there are props on pretty much every aspect of the game. Who will score first? What will the first score be? What will be the longest touchdown and field goal? What will be the highest-scoring half and quarter?
Kelce, Hill favored to score first Chiefs touchdown
If you can figure out exactly which player will score the first touchdown for each team, it could be a lucrative bet. For the Chiefs, the co-favorites to score the first touchdown are Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, both at +300. Other top picks include Clyde-Edwards Helaire and Darrel Williams, both at +800.
For Tampa Bay, the co-favorites to score the first touchdown are Leonard Fournette and Mike Evans at +450. Also near the top of the odds are Chris Godwin at +500, Ronald Jones at +800 and Antonio Brown at +850.
You can also cash in on picking the first play of the game and the first score of the game. A run is favored at -135 to be the first play of the game, while a pass is a -105 underdog. On the first score of the game, a touchdown is the favorite at -230 and a field goal is listed at +165. You can also go with any other score, which includes a safety, at +3300.
Super Bowl props also focus on kicking game
There are several props that highlight the kicking game. You can bet on the number of successful field goals in the game. The total for that prop was set at 3.5 with the UNDER slightly favored at -125.
You can also wager on the first missed field goal of the game. Will the first missed field goal go wide left at +110 or wide right, also at +110? These two choices also include a doink off the left or right upright. You can also choose short or off the crossbar for the first missed field goal at +400.
We’ll finish off our first look at the Super Bowl props with a fun passing prop: How many players will have a passing attempt in the game? The total is set at 2.5 with the OVER at -115 and the UNDER at -125. If a backup quarterback enters the game for either side, the OVER will pay. It would also pay if either team runs an option passing play with a wide receiver or running back, or tries out the Philly Special. During the season, a non-quarterback attempted a pass for the Chiefs four times, while no non-quarterbacks attempted a pass for the Buccaneers.
