Super Bowl 56 Props Betting Preview
With Super Bowl 56 coming up, it’s time for bettors to start putting together their prop bets list for the big game.
Thanks to the long list of prop bets available at Bovada Sportsbook, bettors can make wagers on almost every aspect of the Super Bowl.
It all starts before the game with prop bets on the coin toss and the national anthem.
Bettors can wager on Guyton’s rendition of national anthem
This year’s anthem singer is Mickey Guyton. An OVER/UNDER prop on how long it will take her to sing the anthem hasn’t been posted yet but expect one soon. Last year Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church took 2:16 to sing the song, which went OVER the total posted by the sportsbooks. You can also bet on whether a word will be omitted or forgotten from the anthem. On that prop, No is favored at -1300, while Yes comes in at +625.
Betting on the coin toss is the easiest prop bet you’ll find since it’s literally a coin flip. As usual, heads and tails both come in at -105. You can also bet on which team will win the coin toss with both the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams listed at -105.
McPherson may give Bengals edge in long-range kicking
One thing that stood out to us about the Bovada props list this year is the large volume of kicking props available. This includes the ability to bet on the first made field goal, the shortest field goal and the longest field goal. For the first field goal, both Cincinnati and Los Angeles are listed at -105. For the shortest field goal, the OVER/UNDER was set at 27.5 yards with both sides getting -115 odds.
For the longest field goal, bettors can choose the team, not the OVER/UNDER total. Again, Cincinnati and Los Angeles are both listed at -115. The Bengals may be the better pick here, though. Cincinnati kicker Evan McPherson has had more opportunities from long range and was 9-for-11 from 50-plus yards this season. Los Angeles kicker Matt Gay was 4-for-5 from long range.
You can also bet on whether a kicker will miss a field goal by hitting the uprights or crossbar, and where the first missed field goal will end up. Hitting the uprights on a miss is a +330 underdog. For the first missed field goal, wide left and wide right are both at +110, while short and off the crossbar is at +400.
Will Snoop Dogg spark up during halftime extravaganza?
This year’s Super Bowl halftime show features 1990s hip-hop stars like Dr. Dre, Eminem and Snoop Dogg. A few of the fun halftime props available this year include a wager on whether Snoop will smoke up on stage, if Eminem will be censored and whether there will be a wardrobe malfunction. The OVER/UNDER for the number of songs performed during the show was set at 8.5. The UNDER is favored at -290
One of the final props that bettors watch for during the big game is the color of the Gatorade shower poured on the winning coach. The favorite this year is lime/green/yellow at +250, followed by orange (+300), blue (+300), clear/water (+375), red (+550) and purple (+550). Last year Tampa Bay doused head coach Bruce Arians in blue Gatorade.
