Super Bowl XLIX Pats Seahawks Odds Update
With the off-week over we can finally start the Super Bowl countdown; as of this writing, about 100 hours and counting. That gives Super Bowl bettors precious little time to get their final reads on Sunday's game, and plot their Super Bowl bets. And we're here to help. Here's a quick update on what's cooking, both in Arizona, and at online sportsbook Bovada.
The latest on the Super Bowl XLIX betting line is this; bettors apparently still have Seattle's near-fatal performance in the NFC Championship Game in mind because Bovada, as of Monday evening, was listing the Seahawks as two-point underdogs.
Bettors also apparently don't think Deflategate will have any affect on the Patriots. But might karma have a say in what happens Super Bowl Sunday?
Through Monday of Super Bowl week neither team had lost anybody to suspension or arrest, but hey, there were still five days to go. And the players still had to navigate Media Day.
As far as the game itself goes, the main questions heading into Sunday seemed to be; will Tom Brady and the Patriots passing attack take advantage of a banged-up Seahawks secondary? Will Marshawn Lynch keep the New England offense off the field, by moving the chains and working the clock? And will Russell Wilson rebound from a pedestrian outing against Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game?
As of early this week Bovada was listing an OVER/UNDER on Brady's passing yardage at 260.5; an OVER/UNDER of 89.5 on rushing yards for Lynch (down from 92.5); and an OVER/UNDER of 1.5 on Wilson interceptions.
Both head coaches in this game have been known to pull off a trick or two here and there. But both teams will probably be on the lookout for such chicanery. Which team might pull off a successful surprise, such as a fake field goal, or a flea flicker? A big play or two could make the difference in this Super Bowl.
Finally, for those who haven't gotten enough of the newest catchphrase sweeping the NFL, the Bovada OVER/UNDER on the number of times the term “deflated balls” will be be used during the game telecast sits at three.
