TNF Betting Preview: Jaguars at Titans
A pair of struggling teams meet up on Thursday Night Football this week as the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Tennessee Titans in an AFC South clash. The Titans check in as a 3.5-point home favorite at online sportsbook Bovada.
The Jaguars were trounced by the Oakland Raiders 33-16 last week as a 2-point home favorite. Quarterback Blake Bortles passed for 246 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions in the loss. Allen Robinson was invisible with only two catches for nine yards, while Julius Thomas had the Jaguars' lone touchdown. The Jaguars racked up 105 rushing yards in the game with Chris Ivory leading the way with 48 yards on five carries.
With the loss Jacksonville dropped to 2-7 straight up and 4-5 against the spread in their last nine games. On the road Jacksonville is practically hopeless at 2-17 SU in their last 19 games with a 7-10-2 record ATS.
Tennessee is also coming off an upset loss after falling to the Indianapolis Colts 34-26 last week as a 3.5-point favorite. Marcus Mariota passed for 232 yards with two touchdowns and a lost fumble. DeMarco Murray rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries and Delanie Walker led all receivers with seven catches for 84 yards and a TD.
The Titans are now 3-8 SU and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games. At home they’ve been a total flop at 2-15 SU and 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 outings. They’ve been especially bad for bettors as a home favorite at 4-4 SU and 0-7-1 ATS in their last eight.
When the Titans and Jaguars have faced off recently the favorite has made good and won the last five matchups.
The Titans and Jaguars have split their last six matchups overall with three wins apiece. It’s a different story ATS, as Jacksonville is 4-0-2 ATS in those six contests. In their last 11 games against Tennessee the Jaguars are a profitable 8-1-2 ATS.
At home versus the Jaguars the Titans are 4-1 SU in their last five, but they’re still horrible ATS at 1-3-1. In their last eight at home versus Jacksonville the Titans boast a 6-2 record SU and a 3-4-1 record ATS.
