TNF Betting Preview: Jets at Bills
The Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets will meet up in Buffalo on Thursday night as both sides look to turn things around following opening-week losses.
The Bills began the week as a 2.5-point home favorite, but they're not anymore. The latest odds at online sportsbook Bovada have changed and you'll find the Jets listed as a 1.5-point road favorite.
The Jets came up short in Week 1, losing to the Cincinnati Bengals 23-22 as a 1-point underdog. Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for 189 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception, while Matt Forte had a solid New York debut with 96 rushing yards on 22 carries and five receptions for 59 yards.
Buffalo couldn't get their offense going last week in a 13-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens as a 3-point underdog. Tyrod Taylor passed for only 111 yards and Buffalo amassed only 160 total yards of offense in the game. LeSean McCoy scored the Bills' lone touchdown while rushing for 58 yards on 16 carries.
The Bills' offense could be in more trouble with star wide receiver Sammy Watkins battling a foot injury that reportedly could sideline him this weekend. In Week 1 Watkins was limited to four catches for 43 yards.
In their last five games as a home underdog the Bills have proven the oddsmakers wrong on multiple occasions with a 4-1 record SU and ATS. Those five games include two wins over the Jets. In their last eight games as a road favorite the Jets are 3-5 SU and 2-5-1 ATS.
The Bills have surprisingly dominated this matchup for the last few seasons; Buffalo has won five in a row straight up and against the spread versus the Jets. At home the Bills are on a three-game winning streak both SU and ATS versus New York.
New York has only covered once in their last six road games at 1-3-2 ATS. They are 2-4 SU in those six games, which includes three SU losses as a road favorite.
For totals bettors the total has gone UNDER in the last three games between the Jets and the Bills. New York has also posted three straight UNDER results on the road, while Buffalo is 4-1 UNDER in their last five games. The posted total at Bovada sits at 40.5 after opening at 42.
