TNF Betting Preview: Rams at Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are giant favorites against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football, but their recent history against Los Angeles says otherwise.

The Seahawks are coming off an embarrassing 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers as a 3-point favorite. Quarterback Russell Wilson had a miserable game in the loss, passing for 240 yards with one touchdown and five interceptions. Wilson had only five interceptions the entire season heading into the game. Thomas Rawls had 67 rushing yards on 12 carries for Seattle in the loss and Doug Baldwin led the Seahawks with six receptions for 46 yards.

The Rams were hammered by the Atlanta Falcons 42-14 as a 5-point underdog last week. Jared Goff got the start at QB for Los Angeles and passed for 235 yards with two interceptions, a lost fumble and a touchdown run. Todd Gurley also found the end zone while rushing for 61 yards on 16 carries.

Los Angeles turned the ball over five times last week and the low-scoring output has become common, with the Rams scoring more than 14 points only once in their last seven games. Not surprisingly the Rams are 5-2 UNDER for totals bettors in those seven games. The Rams are also 10-3 UNDER in their last 13 versus Seattle.

Following last week’s loss the Rams are 1-8 straight up and 1-7-1 against the spread in their last nine games. That horrible record cost Rams head coach Jeff Fisher his job. Interim head coach John Fassel takes over this week. His debut could be a tough one because when listed as the underdog the Rams have lost seven in a row SU with an 0-6-1 ATS record.

Seattle is a 16-point favorite at the Bovada sportsbook despite losing their last three games against Los Angeles. In Week 2 the Seahawks were a 5.5-point road favorite in a 9-3 loss. The Rams were the underdog in all three wins against Seattle during their streak and in their last nine against the Seahawks they are 7-2 ATS.

The large spread does bode well for Seattle in the win column. In their last 10 games at home when favored by 14 points or more the Seahawks are a perfect 10-0 SU and 7-2-1 ATS. The Seahawks also boast a 10-1 SU record and 8-3 ATS mark in their last 11 home games against the Rams.
