Travellers Championship Betting Preview
The golfers of the PGA Tour will return east this week for the Travellers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.
At the Bovada Sportsbook the favorite on the Travellers Championship odds is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at +650. Last week at the U.S. Open Scheffler extended his streak of top-three finishes to four straight tournaments by finishing third. Scheffler has arguably been the most consistent golfer on Tour this year with eight top-five finishes in his last 11 events which includes winning the Phoenix Open and The PLAYERS Championship.
Following Scheffler on the odds list are Jon Rahm at +1000 and Rory McIlroy at +1100.
Rahm cracked the Top 10 at the U.S Open last week after tying for 10th place. That was Rahm’s third top-10 finish since his win at the Masters in April.
Last week in the U.S. Open McIlroy came up just short once again in his hunt for a fifth major championship after finishing second. That was his seventh top-10 finish in his last nine majors which includes three top-three finishes. This year McIlroy has also cracked the Top 10 in his last four tournaments without recording a win.
The odds for a few other notables for this week include Patrick Cantlay at +1200, Viktor Hovland at +1800, and Collin Morikawa at +2000.
Clark underdog again in U.S. Open followup event
At the U.S. Open last week Wyndham Clark won his first career major as a massive underdog. Clark shot 10-under par to best McIlroy by one stroke. That was Clark’s second win on Tour this year following his win in the Wells Fargo Championship in May. He’s quietly been playing strong golf for months with five top-six finishes in his last nine events. Clark is a +4000 underdog to win again this week.
The defending champion of the Travellers Championship is Xander Schauffele. Last year at TPC River Highlands Schauffele shot 19-under-par to beat J.T. Poston and Sahith Theegala by two strokes. Schauffele finished tied for 10th last week at the U.S. Open and has three top-five finishes on Tour this season without recording a win. He’s a +1400 underdog to repeat as champion this week.
Other former Travellers Championship winners in this week’s field include 2021 winner Harris English (+6000), 2019 winner Chez Reavie (+15000), 2016 winner Russell Knox (+50000), and 2014 winner Kevin Streelman (+20000).
