UFC 212 Odds Preview: Aldo Battles Holloway
The UFC returns to Brazil this weekend for UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
The main event on the UFC 212 card is a UFC Featherweight championship unification bout between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Max Holloway. At the Bovada Sportsbook Aldo is a favorite at -150, while Holloway is the underdog at +120.
Aldo enters the fight with a 26-2 record with 14 wins by knockout. He hasn’t fought since July 2016 when he faced Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 and won by unanimous decision. Aldo is 18-1 in his last 19 fights with the lone blemish on his record during that span being his loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 194.
Holloway, 17-3 with seven wins by KO, hasn’t suffered a defeat in nearly four years. He’s on a 10-fight winning streak and coincidentally his last loss was also against McGregor at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013. His last fight was at UFC 206 in December when he become the interim Featherweight champ with a third-round TKO win over Anthony Pettis.
The co-main event on the UFC 212 card is a Women’s Strawweight matchup between Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Gadelha is a pretty big favorite at the Bovada Sportsbook at -350, while Kowalkiewicz is a +265 underdog.
Gadelha is 14-2 with two wins by KO and six by submission. She’s 2-2 in her last four fights, with both losses coming against current UFC Women’s Strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk. In her last fight at UFC Fight Night 100 in November Gadelha defeated Cortney Casey by unanimous decision.
Kowalkiewicz is 10-1 with one win by KO and two by submission. She’s coming off her first loss, also to Jedrzejczyk. She faced Jedrzejczyk for the title at UFC 205 in November and lost by unanimous decision.
Also on the UFC 212 fight card is a Middleweight bout between UFC veterans Vitor Belfort and Nate Marquardt. Belfort is the favorite at -160 and Marquardt is a +130 underdog.
Belfort is 25-13 and one no contest with 18 wins by KO. He picked up that no contest in his last fight at UFC Fight Night 106 in March versus Kelvin Gastelum. The fight was originally awarded to Gastelum by TKO, but the decision was changed to no contest after Gastelum tested positive for marijuana.
Marquardt is 35-17-2 with 11 wins by KO and 16 by submission. His last fight was at UFC on Fox 23 in January where he lost to Sam Alvey by unanimous decision.
