UFC Betting: Two Titles On Line At UFC 249
Another swath of UFC events were canceled earlier this week, but there’s still hope that action in the Octagon could return in early May.
UFC events in Lincoln, Nebraska, Oklahoma City, San Diego and UFC 250 were all given the ax. The postponement of UFC 250 comes as no surprise considering they still haven’t held UFC 249 yet.
UFC 249 could be the next event to take place, on May 9 at a still to be determined site in Florida. The event already took a hit when UFC women’s featherweight champion Amanda Nunes pulled out of her title bout against Felicia Spencer.
With events being canceled and fighters pulling out, bettors may wonder what’s the point of betting on the UFC fight lines that are still available at Bovada Sportsbook. If you are a UFC bettor, you should keep making your bets. If an event you bet on is canceled, your money will be refunded so you lose nothing. However, if you decide to not place your usual bets and the events go ahead, you could miss out on a winning bet.
Ferguson favored in bout for interim lightweight title
The current UFC 249 card still includes two title bouts. First is a bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje for the interim UFC lightweight title. At Bovada, Ferguson is a -175 favorite and Gaethje a +145 underdog.
Ferguson, the former UFC lightweight champ, is 25-3 with 12 wins by knockout. He has won 12 straight fights and last fought at UFC 238 in June, when he defeated Donald Cerrone by second-round TKO as a -240 favorite.
Gaethje is 21-2 with 18 wins by knockout. He also faced Cerrone in his last fight at UFC Fight Night 158 in September, defeating Cerrone by first-round KO as a -225 favorite.
Cejudo -250 to retain bantamweight crown
The other title fight on the UFC 249 card is a UFC bantamweight title fight between champion Henry Cejudo and challenger Dominick Cruz. At Bovada, Cejudo is a -250 favorite and Cruz a +195 underdog.
Cejudo has won his last five fights to improve his record to 15-2 with seven wins by KO. He last fought at UFC 238 in June, winning the bantamweight title by defeating Marlon Moraes by third-round TKO as a +110 underdog.
Cruz hasn’t fought since 2016 due to numerous injuries and postponements. His record is 22-2 with eight wins by KO. He last fought at UFC 207 in December 2016 when he lost to Cody Garbrandt by unanimous decision as a -270 favorite.
