UFC Betting: Whittaker vs Gastelum Preview

What may be one of the last UFC events to be held without a crowd goes ahead this weekend as UFC on ESPN: Whittaker vs Gastelum takes over the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas.

The main event is a middleweight bout featuring Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum. At Bovada Sportsbook, Whittaker is a -265 favorite and Gastelum a +210 underdog.

Whittaker is 11-1 in his last 12 fights and owns an overall record of 22-5 with nine wins by knockout and five by submission. He last fought at UFC 254 in October when he defeated Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision as a +105 underdog.

Also on the main card this weekend is a lightweight bout between Jeremy Stephens and Drakkar Klose. Both fighters are looking to rebound from losses and at Bovada, Stephens is a -125 favorite and Klose a +105 underdog.

Stephens hasn’t posted a win in his last five fights, with four losses and a no contest. His record now stands at 28-18 and one no contest with 19 wins by KO and two by submission. He last fought at UFC 249 in May 2020, losing to Calvin Kattar by second-round KO as a +175 underdog.

Klose is 3-2 in his last five fights and overall stands at 11-2-1 with four wins by KO. He last fought at UFC 248 in March 2020 and lost to Beneil Dariush by second-round KO as a +140 underdog.

Underdog Sherman has four consecutive victories

One other interesting fight on the main card this weekend is a heavyweight bout between MMA veteran Andrei Arlovski and Chase Sherman. At Bovada, Arlovski is a -125 favorite and Sherman a +105 underdog.

Arlovski is 3-5 with one no contest in his last nine fights. His overall record is 30-20 and two no contests, with 17 wins by KO and three by submission. He last fought in February at UFC Fight Night 185, where he lost to Tom Aspinall by second-round submission as a +200 underdog.

Sherman has won his last four fights to bump his record up to 15-6 with 14 wins by KO. He last fought at UFC Fight Night 171 in May 2020, besting Isaac Villanueva by second-round TKO as a -215 favorite.
