UFC Fight Night 106: Betting Odds & Preview
The UFC sets up shop in Brazil on Saturday night for UFC Fight Night 106: Belfort vs. Gastelum.
The headliner on the fight card is a Middleweight bout between MMA veteran Vitor Belfort and Kelvin Gastelum. Belfort may be the more experienced fighter, and more than a decade older than his opponent, but he’s a heavy underdog at the Bovada sportsbook at +290. Gastelum checks in as a -380 favorite.
Belfort, 39, returns to the octagon for the first time since he fought at UFC 204 in October. That night he lost to Gegard Mousasi by TKO in the second round. With the loss he dropped to 25-13 with 18 wins by knockout and he has only one win in his last four fights.
Gastelum, 25, is 13-2 in his MMA career with five wins by KO. The winner of The Ultimate Fighter 17 in 2013, he last fought at UFC 206 in December when he defeated Tim Kennedy by TKO in the third round.
Also filling out the main card this weekend are a pair of Light Heavyweight bouts. First up is former Light Heavyweight champ Mauricio Rua versus Gian Villante.
Rua is the favorite at -145 at Bovada. His last fight was nearly a year ago at UFC 198 in May 2016. He faced Corey Anderson and won by split decision to improve his lifetime record to 24-10 with 10 wins by KO. Even with that victory Rua is only 3-4 in his last seven fights.
Villante is 15-7 in his career with 10 wins by KO. He last fought at a UFC Fight Night event in December. He defeated Saparbek Safarov by TKO in the second round.
The other Light Heavyweight tilt on the main card is Edson Barboza versus Beneil Dariush. Barboza is the favorite at Bovada at -175, while Dariush is a +145 underdog.
Barboza last faced Gilbert Melendez at a UFC on Fox event in July and won by unanimous decision. Known as one of the top kickers in the UFC, Barboza is 18-4 with 10 wins by KO.
Dariush is 14-2 in his MMA career with three wins by KO and six by submission. He fought at The Ultimate Fighter Finale in November and beat Rashid Magomedov by unanimous decision. He sports a 7-1 record in his last eight fights with three of those wins coming by submission.
