Week 7 Thursday Night Football Odds Preview
AFC West rivals clash Thursday night as the Oakland Raiders play host to the Kansas City Chiefs.
It’s the Chiefs who are the favorite Thursday night, coming in as 3-point road chalk at Bovada Sportsbook.
Last week Kansas City suffered its first loss of the season, falling 19-13 to the Pittsburgh Steelers as a 3.5-point favorite. Alex Smith completed 19 of 34 passes for 246 yards with a touchdown, while Kareem Hunt had a disappointing night with only 21 rushing yards on nine carries. Tyreek Hill had only five catches for 34 yards before leaving late after taking a huge hit. He’s been cleared of a concussion and is expected to play Thursday night.
The Raiders were a 3-point favorite last week but were upset by the Los Angeles Chargers 17-16. Derek Carr returned from a back injury and completed 21 of 30 passes for 171 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Marshawn Lynch rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries and Michael Crabtree had six receptions for 52 yards and a TD.
Last week’s loss snapped a five-game winning streak both straight up and against the spread for the Chiefs. However, on the road Kansas City still has a nine-game winning streak intact both SU and ATS, and as a road favorite the Chiefs have won their last 10 SU and ATS.
Oakland is going in the other direction. The Raiders have lost their last four games SU and ATS. At home, they have lost their last two games SU and ATS, and as a home underdog they’ve lost three in a row SU and ATS. Oakland also has poor numbers in night games, with a 6-16 SU record in the last 22 games after dark.
The matchup history is also pointing the Chiefs’ way. Kansas City has won five in a row against Oakland SU with a 4-1 record ATS. In their last eight against the Raiders, the Chiefs are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS. The Chiefs also own the Raiders on the road with an 11-3 record SU and ATS in their last 14 games in Oakland.
For totals bettors the OVER may be profitable. The Raiders are 6-1 OVER in their last seven games at home, while the Chiefs are 5-1 OVER in their last six road games. However, the last three between Oakland and Kansas City have all gone UNDER the total.
