Weekend Football Betting: Rams Seek an NFC West Sweep
When it comes to the NFC West you would expect the betting public to focus on division heavyweights Seattle and San Francisco, but one of the more interesting matchups on the Week 10 slate has St. Louis on the road against Arizona as an 8-point road underdog on the 5Dimes NFL odds. The total for this NFC West tilt has been set at 43.
The 3-5 Rams still have numerous issues on both sides of the ball, but what they also have are a pair of upsets on this year’s resume over both the Seahawks and the 49ers. This will be their first meeting this season against an Arizona team that currently has the best straight-up record in the NFL at 7-1. The Cardinals have covered against the spread in nine of the last 13 meetings and the total has stayed UNDER in eight of the last 10 meetings in Arizona.
San Francisco wrapped up the first half of its season with back-to-back losses to Denver and the Rams to fall to 4-4 SU on the year and 3-5 ATS. This Sunday, the 49ers will try and get back above .500 in a road trip to the Big Easy to face the 4-4 (SU and ATS) New Orleans Saints. The Saints have created some solid momentum the past two weeks with lopsided victories over Green Bay and Carolina to help right the ship. They are listed by 5Dimes as 5-point home favorites for Sunday’s NFC showdown with the total set at 49.
As a warmup for Sunday’s action, 5Dimes has posted a complete set of betting odds for Saturday’s college football schedule. While there are a number of huge matchups on the slate between several prominent one-loss teams, the showdown at the top of the list is No. 5 Alabama on the road as a 6.5-point favorite against No. 16 LSU in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings. The total for this SEC West Division tilt has been set at 45.5. The Crimson Tide are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as road favorites while the Tigers have won 19 of their last 21 home games SU in the SEC.
Another huge clash with major playoff implications sends No. 7 Kansas State on the road to face No. 6 TCU in a Big 12 showdown. The Wildcats come into Saturday’s game as 6-point underdogs with the total set at 57.5. They are 13-1 ATS in their last 14 games as road underdogs. The Horned Frogs have covered ATS in their last four home games as favorites.
