Wyndham Championship Betting Preview
The final event before the FedExCup playoffs begins is on the schedule this week as the PGA Tour heads to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship.
Many of the golfers in this week’s field sit outside the FedExCup playoff picture but could secure a place in the Top 70 and the playoffs with a win. At the Bovada Sportsbook the co-favorites at Sedgefield are Hideki Matsuyama and Sung-Jae Im with both set at +1800 odds.
Matsuyama tied for 30th place at last week’s 3M Open and hasn’t posted a Top-10 finish on tour since March. Matsuyama has regularly made the weekend though, with only one missed cut in his last 10 tournaments.
Im finished tied for second at last year’s Wyndham Championship. He missed the cut at the 3M Open last week, which has been somewhat of a regular occurrence lately. In his last nine tournaments Im has missed the cut five times. His last Top-10 finish came back in May.
Last year at Sedgefield Tom Kim recorded his first PGA Tour victory in the Wyndham Championship. Kim shot 24-under par to defeat John Huh and Im by five strokes. Kim will not be back at Sedgefield this week to defend his title as he is sidelined by an ankle injury he suffered in the British Open.
More Wyndham Championship odds for the week
Last week on Tour Lee Hodges posted his first PGA Tour win at the 3M Open. Hodges shot 24-under-par to finish seven strokes ahead of Martin Laird, J.T. Poston, and Kevin Streelman. Hodges was a surprise winner considering he had missed the cut in three of his last four tournaments prior to the win and he had not recorded a Top-10 finish since April. Hodge is not in the field this week, but Laird and Streelman are listed at +10000 odds while Poston is set at +3000.
Poston may be a solid pick at +3000. Not only did he finish second last week in the 3M Open, he also won the Wyndham Championship in 2019. Other former Wyndham Championship winners in this week’s field include 2020 winner Jim Herman (+50000), two-time winner Brandt Snedeker (+15000), 2016 winner Si-woo Kim (+2500), 2011 winner Webb Simpson (+6500), and three-time winner Davis Love III (+200000).
