max is mad

Las Vegas - So, the game three pick tonight is a piece of cake. You got a future FIRST BALLOT Hall of Famer, Max Scherzer, against a true rookie, Brandon Pfaadt. Naturally, it's ALL Texas. Easy peezy right. Pfaadt was WAY under water during the regular season, with a 3-9 record and a 5.72 ERA. Gotta gimme some cash on the Rangers. Well, NOT so fast. Mad Max has NOT looked like a Hall of Famer in the playoffs, and we'll probably find out when the World Series is over that he still had some kind of lingering injury. In two starts, both against the Astros, Max was BLASTED, allowing 9 hits and 7 earned runs in only 6 innings. When you are giving up more than a run per inning, that's an ISSUE. Unless they've found a bionic arm for Scherzer, he'll be lucky to get through five innings. Then we looked at Pfaadt's work in the playoffs, giving up just 2 earned runs over the last 14 innings, which works out to a VERY THIN 1.29 ERA. Arizona puts nonstop pressure on every team they play, and also found the magic hitting potion in game two, pounding out 16 hits and scoring 9 runs. Add in a delirious home crowd, a few more stolen bases, and the D'backs should be able to take a 2-1 edge.

And, if you scroll back to 2022, Detroit has covered an astounding 14 of its last 17 games, which works out to 82%!
