Las Vegas - Looking at the MLB board and gonna roll with the Nationals over the D'backs tonight. No one expected Washington to do anything other than finish at the bottom of the barrel this season, but not so fast. Don't think that the Nats are gonna catch the Phillies or Braves, but they are sitting at 35-36 which ain't terrible. They were TWENTY games under .500 last year (71-91), so 2024 is a SERIOUS upgrade. One of the reasons is the starting pitching, and Jake Irvin's recent smoke show. Irvin's first two months were kinda lousy, but the big righty has been amazing since the end of May. He has allowed only 3 earned runs over the last 24 innings which works out to a 1.13 ERA, and you can throw in 25 Ks. Oh yea, Washington has won eight of its last nine so the Bank of Benj is wide open for the Nationals.
