Las Vegas - After waiting for six months, the NFL is finally back BABY! But the disturbing news out of Kansas City is the injury to ALL-WORLD TE Travis Kelce. The Chiefs opened -7, slipped to -6.5, and after the Kelce news, fell to -4.5 at most books. Another ALL-WORLD player, Kaycee DT Chris Jones, is still holding out and might not play. Two YUGE holes for the Chiefs to fill. However, as long as Patrick Mahomes is at QB, it's tough to bet against K.C. So, since there are 43,784 wagers still available, we'll pass on the spread pick. We will take a look at a prop involving the Lions rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs. A first round pick coming out of Alabama, Gibbs KNOWS how to catch a pass. He grabbed 44 balls out of the backfield last season for the Crimson Tide, and oh yea, had 965 rushing yards. Detroit QB Jared Goff threw to his RBs the third most of any QB at 23.5%. And with WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (106 receptions, 1,161 yards, 6 TDs) most likely demanding double coverage, Gibbs should be able to sneak out for at least four catches (the Over/Under is 3.5). Gimme Jahmyr for a little bit of cash.
And just for the yea of it, we'll tickle Ben Shelton +$900 over Novak Djokovic at the U.S. Open.

For your wagering pleasure, here is your spread stat of the day. If you wanna know why people are excited about the Lions, scroll back to last season and we can tell you that Detroit covered nine of its last 10 games (90%). We can also tell you that Super Bowl winners, Kansas City, have won 16 of the last 20 games to open a season, with a 13-5-2 record against the spread.
