College Football Betting: Bowl Season
The bowl game matchups have been set, and college football betting fans will get another chance to wager on LSU vs. Alabama as those teams are set for the BCS Championship Game in New Orleans on January 9. Here's a look at the bowl schedule for December and January, starting with the five BCS contests . . .
Rose Bowl – Wisconsin vs. Oregon (Jan. 2)
Oregon sits at No. 5 in the BCS rankings after winning the Pac-12 Championship Game over UCLA, while Wisconsin won the Big Ten Championship Game over Michigan State to get to No. 10 in the BCS rankings. The Ducks have been set as 5.5-point favorites for the Rose Bowl at 5Dimes; they lost 27-23 when they last faced the Badgers way back in September 2000.
Fiesta Bowl – Stanford vs. Oklahoma State (Jan. 2)
Oklahoma State claimed the Big 12 title last time out by getting past rival Oklahoma 44-10, which kept them at No. 3 in the BCS rankings. Stanford is just behind the Cowboys at No. 4 in the BCS rankings, and at 5Dimes they have been set as the 3.5-point underdog for the Fiesta Bowl.
Sugar Bowl – Michigan vs. Virginia Tech (Jan. 3)
Michigan sits at just No. 13 in the BCS rankings, but the school still got a invitation to the Sugar Bowl where they'll take on Virginia Tech. The Hokies are coming off a loss to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, but hold down the No. 11 spot in the BCS rankings. The oddsmakers at 5Dimes have Michigan set as the 1.5-point favorite for the Sugar Bowl.
Orange Bowl – West Virginia vs. Clemson (Jan. 4)
Clemson's win in the ACC Championship Game puts them into the Orange Bowl despite their No. 15 BCS ranking. West Virginia, No. 23 in the BCS rankings, won the Big East title by taking care of South Florida last time out. The Tigers are listed as 3.5-point favorites over the Mountaineers for the Orange Bowl at 5Dimes.
BCS Championship Game – Alabama vs. LSU (Jan. 9)
Alabama managed to retain the No. 2 spot in the BCS rankings, so they'll get another chance to beat No. 1 LSU when the schools meet in the national title game in January. The Tigers completed a perfect season with a win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game last time out, and they slipped past the Crimson Tide 9-6 earlier in the year. LSU is a slight 1-point favorite for this matchup at 5Dimes.
