Baseball wagering kicks off

The boys of summer have been breaking out the bats as MLB betting gets underway in earnest this weekend.

Bettors also have a full plate of NHL and NBA wagering over the next few days.

John Danks hopes to redeem himself from a year ago when he gets the nod to open the season for the Chicago White Sox on Friday when they take on Colby Lewis and the Texas Rangers.

Lewis is 6-2 head-to-head and should give the Rangers a leg up on the MLB betting lines in this game.

Other MLB betting series this weekend that will draw interest are San Francisco vs. Arizona, which gets underway Friday, while the Yankees start their season on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays.

A full slate of MLB betting matchups are set for Saturday with notable games between Boston and Detroit, and Atlanta and the Mets. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh will wrap up their three-game series on Sunday on another busy MLB betting day.

The NBA is in the final stretch of its regular season and all eyes will be on the Phoenix Suns, winners of three straight when they tip off against the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

The Suns trail the Nuggets by one game for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Other key NBA betting matchups this weekend include Houston vs. the Lakers on Friday, while Utah can stay in the Western Conference playoff race with a victory over Golden State.

Boston and Indiana will draw plenty of interest on the NBA betting lines when they hook up on Saturday, and Orlando vs. Philly should get lots of interest from bettors as well.

The Knicks want to stay in the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot and need a victory on Sunday in a key betting matchup against the league-leading Chicago Bulls.

The NHL's regular season concludes on Saturday with all 30 clubs on the betting schedule – and teams will be jockeying for postseason position all day long.

As well, the Flyers and Penguins will give bettors a first-round playoff preview on Saturday afternoon as the rivals hit the ice in Pittsburgh.
