Sports Betting Preview: Weekly Setup

The San Antonio Spurs are sitting at 27-20-2 ATS and riding a 10-game winning streak as they hit the road to take on the Timberwolves in NBA betting action this week. That's just one of the matchups on the sports betting calendar for the next few days as football season fades away and NBA and college hoops take over at the sportsbooks.

The Spurs won their 10th game in a row on Saturday by beating the Wizards 96-86, and they return to action on Wednesday night on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves. San Antonio has won eight of its past 10 games against Minnesota and they covered a 12-point spread at home when they played the Timberwolves back on January 13, but there's a good chance they'll be playing without Tim Duncan on Wednesday – he suffered both a sprained ankle and a sprained knee on Saturday.

On Tuesday night the top NBA betting matchups are Atlanta at Indiana and the Lakers at Brooklyn, while on Thursday night the Lakers will be in Boston to take on the Celtics. Los Angeles is 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS over its past three games against Boston, with the OVER only paying out twice on the totals in the past nine contests between the teams.

Thursday night also offers up a top college basketball betting matchup as the Duke Blue Devils get a visit from the N.C. State Wolfpack – a team that topped them 84-76 as an underdog of 2 points back in January. That was the Wolfpack's first win over the Blue Devils in their last four tries, and the fourth OVER result in the last five games between the two schools. Duke is 12-9 ATS this season; N.C. State sits at 11-7-2 ATS.

The Philadelphia Flyers could have their hands full in NHL betting action on Tuesday night as they play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bolts have scored a league-high 39 goals through their first eight games of the season, while the Flyers have scored just 21 goals in nine outings so far on the year. Philadelphia is just 1-4 over its five most recent games against the Lightning, with the OVER/UNDER going 3-1-1.

On Thursday night it's a battle of New York on the ice as the Islanders take on the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers managed to win four of their six games against the Islanders last season, and they're 7-3 in the past 10 matchups between the clubs. The OVER has paid out in eight of their nine most recent contests.
