Weekly betting slate includes Sun Devils, Chiefs
College football enters its fourth week of action, while the NFL ushers in Week 3 of its season with a Thursday night showdown that has Andy Reid and the upstart Kansas City Chiefs on the road in a place he had called home for the previous 14 years, Philadelphia. The following is a look at some of the top matchups on this week’s board, along with the current lines and odds as provided by 5Dimes.
When it comes to college football there is only one matchup on this Saturday’s slate between ranked opponents as the top teams in the nation try and fatten up their overall records before the full-blown start of conference play. That battle takes us to the Pac-12, where the No. 23 Arizona State Sun Devils head into Stanford Stadium as 7.5-point road underdogs against the No. 5 Cardinal in a 7pm ET start.
Earlier in the day No. 22 Notre Dame will play host to Michigan State as a 7-point home favorite in its third straight game against the Big Ten. The Fighting Irish lost to Michigan two weeks ago and this past Saturday it needed a late rally to get past Purdue.
In other games involving Top-5 teams, No. 1 Alabama will be at home against Colorado State as a 39.5-point favorite and No. 4 Ohio State will host Florida A&M as a 57-point favorite. No. 3 Clemson will be in action on Thursday night as a 14.5-point road favorite against North Carolina State.
A few of the big showdowns in the NFL this Sunday start off with Houston vs. Baltimore in a 1pm ET battle between a couple of heavyweights in the AFC. The 2-0 Texans have been opened as 1-point road favorites with the total set at 45 points.
The late games include a matchup between two playoff contenders coming off a Week 2 loss; Indianapolis fell to Miami last Sunday 24-20 as a 3-point home favorite while San Francisco was pushed around pretty good in a 29-3 loss to Seattle as a 3-point underdog on the road. The 49ers have been opened as 11.5-point home favorites over the Colts with the total set at 46 points.
Next Monday night’s game is an AFC West clash between the 1-1 Oakland Raiders and the 2-0 Denver Broncos. Denver has been unstoppable in its first two games with 90 total points so it is easy to see why it is favored by 15.5 points over the Raiders at home. The total for this contest has been set at 49 points.
