Weekly Sports Betting Preview: October 14
While there are couple of great matchups on this upcoming weekend’s college football and NFL schedules, bettors will be turning their attention to the MLB playoffs for action in the beginning of the week. Both the ALCS and NLCS best-of-seven matchups are in full swing with key games on the slate for both Monday and Tuesday night.
Detroit and Boston are tied at one game apiece heading into Tuesday’s ALCS Game 3 at Detroit. While 5Dimes has yet to release an opening moneyline for that matchup, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been opened as +109 home underdogs for Monday night’s Game 3 tilt against St. Louis. The Dodgers’ backs are already to the wall in this series after losing the first two games in St. Louis this past weekend.
There is a Tuesday night game in college football as well with UL-Lafayette listed as a 4.5-point road underdog against Western Kentucky, but if you are looking for a couple of weekday games with a bit more star appeal check out Thursday night’s Miami vs. North Carolina game or Friday night’s clash between Central Florida and Louisville. The Hurricanes have been opened as 8-point favorites on the road, and the Cardinals are 11-point favorites at home.
The biggest showdown in college football this week is Saturday night’s ACC tilt between Florida State and Clemson. The Seminoles have been opened as 3-point road favorites in a game that will not only have major implications for the conference title picture, but on the BCS title game rankings as well.
Turning our attention to the NFL, the 5-1 Seattle Seahawks and the 3-3 Arizona Cardinals will get things started in Week 7 of the regular season this Thursday night. The Seahawks have been opened as 6-point road favorites for this NFC West clash.
Another key divisional matchup in Sunday’s early games has the 5-1 New England Patriots on the road against the 3-3 New York Jets as 4.5-point road favorites. The total for this AFC East contest has been set at 43.5.
The biggest game on Sunday’s NFL slate sends the undefeated Denver Broncos on the road to face the Colts in what will be an emotional return to Indianapolis for Peyton Manning. Denver will try and extend its current winning streak to seven games as a 5.5-point road favorite, with the total set at 56.
