Weekend Football Slate Features Possible Super Bowl Preview
This Sunday afternoon the 9-2 New England Patriots will go on the road to face the 8-3 Green Bay Packers, and if you head over to the 5Dimes NFL futures you would find that this matchup is a +715 favorite to be played out again in Super Bowl XLIX.
The Patriots are +185 favorites to win the AFC this season, and while they have the slight edge over Green Bay to win this year’s Super Bowl at +400 they head into Sunday’s game as 3-point underdogs on the road. The Packers’ betting odds to win the NFC are set at +180 and they are +490 second-favorites to win this season’s NFL title. The total for Sunday’s showdown has been set at 58.
Sunday Night Football features another great matchup, but this one is for the lead in the AFC West between 8-3 Denver and 7-4 Kansas City. The current NFL betting odds for this game have the Broncos favored by a point on the road and the total has been set at 49.5. Denver has won the last five meetings straight-up and it is 6-3 against the spread in its last nine games against the Chiefs. The total has stayed UNDER in six of the last eight meetings.
The Thanksgiving Holiday weekend is filled with huge rivalry showdowns in college football, but none bigger than the two in the SEC where a couple of possible national playoff spots could be on the line. Alabama remains the top team in the current College Football Playoff Rankings and it will play host to No. 15 Auburn in this year’s Iron Bowl. The Tide have been listed as 9.5-point favorites with the total set at 53.5. Everyone remembers last year’s game when the Tigers ended Alabama’s national title hopes with a last-second score to win SU. They are actually 8-4 SU against the Tide in the last 12 meetings.
The second big showdown in the SEC sends No. 4 Mississippi State on the road to face No. 18 Mississippi in another heated rivalry between two teams that do not like each other all that much. The Bulldogs head into Saturday afternoon’s game as 2.5-point favorites and 5Dimes has set the betting odds for the total in this game at 49.5. Mississippi State has dominated this series in recent years with a 4-1 record both SU and ATS in the last five games. The total has stayed UNDER in nine of the last 12 meetings.
