NFL Week 6 Slate: Best Betting Matchups

A pair of Super Bowl rematches highlight the schedule in Week 6 of the NFL season as the Baltimore Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers play host to the Arizona Cardinals.

This is actually the first time the Ravens and 49ers have met since Baltimore won Super Bowl XLVII 34-31 as a 4.5-point underdog. In the rematch the Ravens are listed as a 2.5-point favorite at online sportsbook Bovada.

Baltimore lost to Cleveland 33-30 in overtime last week as a 6-point favorite. That dropped them to 1-4 SU and 0-4-1 ATS on the season.  Joe Flacco had a touchdown pass and a pair of rushing touchdowns in defeat.

The 49ers have lost four in a row following last week’s 30-27 loss to the Giants as a 7.5-point underdog. By covering the spread they snapped a three-game ATS losing streak, but they’re still a pitiful 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games.

Including their Super Bowl showdown the Ravens have won four in a row against the 49ers, during which they are 3-1 ATS.

The oddsmakers at 5Dimes must be starting to believe in the Arizona Cardinals after listing them as a 3-point road favorite against Pittsburgh this weekend. The Cardinals are coming off a 42-17 drubbing of Detroit as a 4-point favorite. Arizona shredded the Lions through the air with three touchdowns, on the ground with three touchdowns and on defense with four interceptions.

The Steelers escaped with a much-needed win over San Diego last week thanks to a TD plunge from Le’Veon Bell as time expired. Bell’s end zone dive gave the Steelers a 24-20 win as a 4-point underdog.

In their last five games against Arizona the Steelers are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS. At home the Steelers are usually a strong play at 12-5 SU and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games. Pittsburgh is also 3-1 SU and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four home games as the underdog.

Speaking of home underdogs, the Cleveland Browns are also expected to flop at home this weekend when they host Denver. The oddsmakers at Bovada expect the Broncos to remain undefeated as a 4.5-point road favorite.

The Browns were a 6-point road underdog last week when they upset Baltimore 33-30 in overtime. Denver improved to 5-0 with a 16-10 win over Oakland as a 4.5-point favorite. The only touchdown the Broncos scored in the win came on a defensive interception, as Peyton Manning is really starting to look his age.

Something has to give in this matchup. Denver is 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as the favorite in October, while Cleveland is 6-1 SU in their last seven home games during the month.
