College Football Week 8 Top Odds Matchups

The No. 20 California Golden Bears get their week started early on Thursday night when they take on the UCLA Bruins. California may be ranked higher, but UCLA is the favorite at online sportsbook 5Dimes at -3.5.

Both sides are coming off losses that may have derailed their seasons. California had their five-game winning streak snapped last week after a 30-24 loss to Utah as a 7.5-point underdog. The Golden Bears turned the ball over five times in the loss, including four interceptions by quarterback Jared Goff.

The Bruins have lost two in a row after a 56-35 loss to Stanford as a 6.5-point underdog last week. The loss dropped them to 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS on the season.

Last season when the Bruins and Golden Bears met up UCLA edged Cal 36-34 as a 6.5-point road favorite. In their last seven matchups Cal is 4-3 SU and ATS, but at UCLA it’s a different story. In their last seven home games against Cal the Bruins are 6-1 SU and ATS. In their last nine games as the underdog Cal is a solid 7-2 ATS.

The only clash between ranked teams this week sees No. 15 Texas A&M take on No. 24 Mississippi. The Rebels are a 5-point home favorite at online sportsbook Bovada.

The Aggies suffered their first loss of the season last week after falling to Alabama 41-23 as a 5-point underdog. Texas A&M lost the game on turnovers, with four in total, including two returned for six by Alabama.

Mississippi is coming off a shocking loss to Memphis. The Rebels were a 10-point favorite but were upset by the Tigers 37-24. Ole Miss couldn’t get the ball moving in the loss and converted only four of 13 on third down.

Last season Texas A&M was a 2.5-point home favorite against Mississippi but ended up losing 35-20. The Rebels have been a great option for bettors at home, going 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games. The Aggies recent record on the road includes a 3-6 ATS mark in their last nine.

Also on the schedule this weekend is an interesting matchup between No. 3 Utah and unranked USC. The Utes may be ranked No. 3 in the nation, and even received some first place votes in the AP poll, but they’re still a 3-point road underdog at 5Dimes.

Utah took care of Arizona State 34-18 as a 4-point favorite last week, while USC fell to Notre Dame 41-31 as a 6-point underdog. The Utes have won eight in a row with a 5-3 ATS record and on the road they’re 7-1 SU and ATS in their last eight.

The Trojans have lost two of their last three games and at home they’re on a two-game losing streak both SU and ATS. When the Trojans and Utes clashed last season Utah recorded a 24-21 win as a 1-point home underdog.

In their last five games on the road as the underdog Utah is 4-1 SU and 5-0 ATS.
