Sports Betting Week: Cavaliers on the Slate
The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to hold off the Toronto Raptors for the Eastern Conference lead early this week with a pair of games on Tuesday and Thursday night.
LeBron James and the Cavaliers play host to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. Despite a 91-77 blowout win over the Rockets earlier this season as a 2-point road favorite at the sportsbooks, Cleveland actually has a horrible record against them recently. In their last 10 versus Houston the Cavaliers are only 2-8 straight up and 4-6 against the spread.
On Thursday the Cavaliers play at home against the Brooklyn Nets. The Cavs may be looking for some payback in this matchup, as the last time Cleveland faced Brooklyn they were a 9.5-point road favorite at the sportsbooks and lost 104-95.
In between the Raptors will be in action Wednesday night at home against the Atlanta Hawks. Toronto is 17-2 SU and 11-7 ATS in their last 19 home games. Against the Hawks the Raptors have won three in a row SU and ATS, and six of their last seven SU and ATS.
On the ice this week one of the most interesting games on tap is the Colorado Avalanche at the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. The Blues are on a four-game winning streak, but more impressively, all four games have been shutouts. The Avalanche need every win they can get right now while chasing down the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.
Making things even more interesting, Colorado is 3-0 versus St. Louis this season with all three wins coming as the underdog.
The PGA prepares for the Masters this week with the Shell Houston Open getting started at the Golf Club of Houston on Thursday.
The favorite in the tournament is Jordan Spieth, despite the fact he is no longer the No. 1 player in the world and he fell in the first round of the WGC match play event last week. Speith is listed at +600 at online sportsbook Bovada.
J.B. Holmes won this tournament last year and he’s a +2500 underdog to repeat. Other former winners of this tournament in this week’s field include Phil Mickelson (+1800), Hunter Mahan (+12,500), D.A. Points (+35,000) and three-time winner Vijay Singh (+20,000).
