Sports Betting Weekend: Cubs Face Dodgers
This weekend’s MLB schedule boasts a pair of matchups between division leaders, as the Chicago Cubs take on the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cleveland Indians meet up with the Texas Rangers.
The Cubs continue to run away with the NL Central and have won three straight games and eight of their last 10. The Dodgers have won four straight heading into the finale of their series with the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.
Earlier this season the Cubs took three of four games from the Dodgers in Chicago. However, in Los Angeles the Dodgers are 7-4 in their last 11 games against the Cubs. Totals bettors may want to ride the UNDER in this series if the trends mean anything; in the last 11 games between the Cubs and Dodgers the UNDER is 10-1.
The Rangers welcome the Indians having taken two of three in Cleveland in late May. Texas is 5-2 in their last seven versus the Indians, but they haven’t fared as well against them at home. In their last nine games in Texas the Indians are 7-2.
Runs have been plentiful when the Indians and Rangers have met up recently; in the last nine meetings the OVER is 7-2.
Week 3 of the NFL preseason delivers the annual exhibition matchup between the New York Giants and New York Jets and a game between preseason flops when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the New Orleans Saints.
Last year in the preseason the Jets defeated the Giants 28-18 as a 1-point underdog. At online sportsbook Bovada the Giants are a 3-point favorite despite a lacklustre 6-15 record straight-up and 6-14-1 mark against the spread in their last 21 preseason games against the Jets.
The Steelers and Saints are both winless in the preseason and are both riding losing streaks. The Steelers have lost four in a row both SU and ATS and they’re 1-8 SU and ATS in their last nine. The Saints have lost seven straight SU and ATS, but they’re a 1.5-point favorite at Bovada.
Formula 1 returns from a month-long break this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Nico Rosberg is a -150 favorite at Bovada as he looks for his first win in Belgium. Lewis Hamilton won this race last season and in 2010 but he’ll start at the back of the pack after being assessed a grid penalty. Hamilton is a +300 underdog.
