NFL Week 3 Betting Preview and Analysis
After an upset loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings last week the Green Bay Packers will try to right the ship with another divisional matchup in Week 3 of the NFL season when they host the Detroit Lions.
The Packers were a 1-point road favorite last week in their 17-14 loss to the Vikings. The loss dropped them to 2-4 straight up and against the spread in their last six games. Green Bay is also 1-3 SU in their last four games at home and 1-4 ATS in their last five as they face the Lions as an 8-point favorite at online sportsbook Bovada.
Detroit was also upset last week, falling to the Tennessee Titans 16-15 as 6-point chalk. That snapped the Lions’ four-game winning streak both SU and ATS.
The last time the Lions journeyed to Green Bay they shocked the Packers in an 18-16 win as 10.5-point underdogs. Before that loss the Packers had won 24 straight home games against Detroit while going 17-5-2 ATS.
In the NFC East this weekend the undefeated New York Giants get a home game against rivals the Washington Redskins as a 4.5-point favorite. New York is coming off a 16-13 win over the New Orleans Saints as a 3.5-point favorite. Washington is 0-2 after a 27-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week as a 3-point favorite.
Washington has now dropped three in a row SU and ATS, but on the road they’ve won their last three SU and ATS. In their last six versus the Giants they are 1-5 SU and ATS and a disappointing 4-12 SU and 6-9-1 ATS in their last 16.
Rounding out our look at Week 3, the Seattle Seahawks will look to rebound from a surprising defeat at home against the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite losing to the Los Angeles Rams 9-3 as a 5.5-point favorite last week the Seahawks are still a 10-point favorite at Bovada. Seattle has lost four straight ATS overall.
The 49ers were pummeled by the Carolina Panthers 46-27 as a 12.5-point underdog last week. They’ve been horrible on the road lately at 1-10 SU and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games away from home.
The Seahawks have won five in a row SU and 10 straight ATS against San Francisco. They also have an eight-game ATS winning streak at home versus the 49ers.
