NFL Week 9 Betting Preview and Analysis
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens are coming off their byes as they meet up this week with both sides trying to snap losing streaks.
The Steelers entered their bye week with back-to-back losses after a 27-16 loss to the New England Patriots as a 7-point underdog. They were missing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in that game but expect him back against Baltimore this weekend.
Baltimore is on a four-game losing streak straight up and a five-game losing streak against the spread after falling to the New York Jets 24-16 as a 2.5-point underdog in Week 7.
The Ravens are a 3-point favorite at the sportsbooks, but those odds will depend on Roethlisberger’s final status. At home Baltimore has been a horrible play for bettors at 2-4 SU and ATS in their last six outings, and in their last 14 they are 2-11-1 ATS. The Steelers aren’t much better on the road this season at 1-3 SU and 1-2-1 ATS.
Baltimore has owned Pittsburgh at 5-1 SU and 3-2-1 ATS in their last six meetings. At home the Ravens are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five against the Steelers.
In the AFC West this week first place is on the line when the Oakland Raiders host the Denver Broncos. Oakland is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last six after downing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24 in overtime as a pick’em. Denver got past the San Diego Chargers 27-19 as 3.5-point chalk.
At online sportsbook Bovada the Raiders are a slim 1-point favorite. As a home favorite they’ve been a dud at 2-3 SU and 0-5 ATS in their last five. Against Denver they’re 1-8 SU and 2-7 ATS in their last nine. At home versus Denver the Raiders have lost five in a row SU and ATS and they’re 2-11 SU and 3-10 ATS in their last 13.
One other divisional matchup this week pits the Detroit Lions against the Minnesota Vikings as a 6.5-point underdog.
The Vikings are stumbling after losing their last two games, both as a favorite. Last week they lost to the Chicago Bears 20-10 as a 5-point road favorite. They’ll look to turn things around at home this week where they have won three in a row SU and six straight ATS
The Lions had a three-game winning streak snapped last week after losing to the Houston Texans 20-13 as a 1-point underdog. On the road they’ve dropped three straight SU and ATS.
Minnesota is a solid 7-2 ATS in their last nine versus Detroit. At home they’ve dominated the matchup with a 16-2 record SU and 10-6-2 mark ATS in their last 18 games.
