NFL Week 17 Betting Preview and Analysis
The NFC North division title is up for grabs Sunday night when the Detroit Lions play host to the Green Bay Packers as a 3-point underdog at the Bovada sportsbook.
The Lions were crushed by the Dallas Cowboys last week, falling 42-21 as a 6.5-point underdog. That was their second consecutive loss straight up and third in a row against the spread.
Green Bay won their fifth in a row SU last week with a 38-25 win over the Minnesota Vikings as a 6.5-point favorite. On the road this season the Packers are 3-4 SU and 2-5 ATS. They met up with Detroit at home back in Week 3 and came away with a 34-27 win as a 6.5-point favorite.
That win improved the Packers to 8-3 SU and ATS in their last 11 games versus Detroit. They’re also 7-3 SU and ATS in their last 10 road games versus the Lions.
The Oakland Raiders have their spot in the playoffs booked, but have some work to do this week when they face the Denver Broncos as a 3.5-point road underdog.
Oakland clinched a playoff spot last week with a 33-25 win over the Indianapolis Colts as a 3.5-point favorite. However, they lost starting QB Derek Carr to a broken leg, leaving Matt McGloin as the starter going forward. Playing on the road shouldn’t bother Oakland, as they are 7-1 SU and ATS on the road this season.
Denver was eliminated from the postseason last week after a 33-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs as a 3.5-point underdog. They’ve lost three straight SU and ATS, but at home are 9-2 SU and 5-5-1 ATS in their last 11.
In Week 9 the Raiders defeated the Broncos 30-20 as a 1-point home favorite. Despite that loss Denver is still 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus Oakland.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take their incredibly slim playoff hopes into a Week 17 matchup with the Carolina Panthers as a 6.5-point favorite.
Tampa Bay lost to the New Orleans Saints 31-24 as a 3-point underdog last week. That snapped a six-game ATS winning streak, but they do have a three-game streak SU and ATS intact at home.
The Panthers were routed by the Atlanta Falcons 33-16 as a 3-point underdog last week. They’ve been horrible on the road this season at 2-5 SU and 2-4-1 ATS.
In Week 5 the Buccaneers upset the Panthers 17-14 as a 5.5-point road favorite. That snapped a six-game losing streak against Carolina.
