College Football Week 2 Betting Preview
After getting past Florida State in their season opener the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide should have a much easier time this week against the Fresno State Bulldogs.
Alabama is a 43-point favorite at the Bovada Sportsbook as they go for their 13th straight win at home. The Tide are 27-1 straight up and 16-12 ATS in their last 28 games, while Fresno State has dropped seven in a row on the road while going 2-5 ATS.
The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes get a Top 5 matchup this week, but they’re still a 7.5-point home favorite versus the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners. The Buckeyes crushed the Sooners 45-24 as a 1.5-point underdog last season and they’re a solid 6-1 ATS in their last seven versus the Big 12. Oklahoma has won 11 straight on the road at 8-3 ATS, and for totals bettors they’re 7-1 OVER in their last eight road games.
Other ranked matchups on tap this week include the No. 14 Stanford Cardinal at the No. 6 USC Trojans, the No. 13 Auburn Tigers at the No. 3 Clemson Tigers, and the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs at the No. 24 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Cardinal are a 6-point road underdog but they’re 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS in their last nine versus USC. USC has won 10 straight at 7-3 ATS, but they’re 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five at home versus Stanford.
In the battle of the Tigers, Clemson is a 6-point home favorite. At home Clemson is 23-1 SU and 14-10 ATS in their last 24 and they’ve won their last three versus Auburn. Auburn has trouble against the ACC at 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 versus the conference.
The Fighting Irish are 4-point favorites at the Bovada Sportsbook but they’re 2-4 SU and ATS in their last six home games when favored. Georgia has won their last two games as an underdog SU, but they’re 0-4 ATS in their last four road games in September.
The TCU Horned Frogs climbed into the Top 25 last week after crushing Jackson State 63-0. This week the Horned Frogs visit the Arkansas Razorbacks as a 3-point favorite. The Frogs are 16-2 SU in their last 18 as a road favorite, but only 6-12 ATS. Arkansas is 8-1 ATS in its last nine versus the Big 12 and defeated TCU 41-38 as a 10-point underdog last season.
The Penn State Nittany Lions climbed into the Top 5 at No. 4 this week and are listed as 21.5-point home favorites versus the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus Penn State. The Nittany Lions have won 10 straight ATS and they’re 4-2 ATS in their last six versus the ACC.
