NFL Week 8 Betting Preview and Trends
Week 8 in the NFL kicks off Thursday night with the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Miami Dolphins.
At Bovada Sportsbook, the Ravens are a slim 3-point home favorite as they look to snap a two-game losing streak both straight up and against the spread at home. The Dolphins have won their last three games at 2-0-1 ATS and they’re 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six road games. The Ravens are a perfect 7-0 ATS and 6-1 SU in their last seven versus Miami.
On Sunday the New England Patriots head home to face the Los Angeles Chargers as a 7-point favorite. The Patriots are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the Chargers and at home they’re 7-2 ATS in their last nine against teams with losing records. The Chargers have won three straight SU and ATS, and they’ve won their last two road games SU as an underdog.
The largest spread so far in Week 8 belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles, who are 12.5-point home favorites against the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles have won five straight and in their last nine they’re 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS. The 49ers are 1-13 SU and 5-8-1 ATS in their last 14 road games and they’re 1-6 ATS in their last seven against the Eagles.
In the NFC South this weekend, two struggling teams clash when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Carolina Panthers as a 2.5-point favorite. The Bucs have lost three straight and they’re 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games. Carolina has dropped two in a row SU and ATS, but the Cats have won their last four ATS in Tampa.
The Houston Texans are 5.5-point road underdogs this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks. The Texans are coming off their bye week with a 4-1 ATS mark in their last five games. However, on the road they are 3-7 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10. Seattle has won three straight SU and ATS and at home is 10-1 SU and 6-4-1 ATS in the last 11. In this matchup the favored team has won the last three SU and ATS.
The Dallas Cowboys are slim road favorites this week, listed as 2.5-point road favorites against the Washington Redskins. Dallas is only 6-3 SU and 5-4 ATS in its last nine as a road favorite but has won four straight in Washington at 3-1 ATS. The Redskins are a lousy 2-5 ATS in their last seven games, but know how to deliver as a home underdog with a 7-2 SU record in their last nine.
