College Football Week 9 Betting Preview
The college football rankings are in for a shakeup this week with four ranked matchups on the schedule.
Leading things off are the No. 2 Penn State Nittany Lions at the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes are a 6-point home favorite at Bovada Sportsbook and in their last 11 at home they’re 10-1 straight up, but only 5-6 against the spread. Penn State has won seven straight at 5-1-1 ATS and is a money-making 14-1-2 ATS in the last 17.
The No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs are a 7-point road favorite this week as they face the No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones. The Horned Frogs have won seven straight at 5-2 ATS, but in their last nine as a road favorite they’re only 4-5 ATS. The Cyclones are a lousy 1-7 SU in their last eight as a home underdog, but they’re 5-2-1 ATS.
The No. 11 Oklahoma State Cowboys are also a road favorite, by 11 points, against the No. 22 West Virginia Mountaineers. The Cowboys have won 13 straight as a road favorite with a respectable 8-5 record ATS. At home the Mountaineers are 12-1 SU in their last 13, but only 6-7 ATS.
The last ranked matchup is the No. 14 N.C. State Wolfpack at the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish as a 7.5-point underdog. The Irish have a five-game winning streak going both SU and ATS. The Wolfpack have won six straight at 3-3 ATS, but on the road they’re 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four.
The No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers are a massive 26.5-point road favorite this week at the Illinois Fighting Illini. Wisconsin has won eight straight ATS on the road, and as a road favorite is 9-3 ATS in the last 12. Illinois has lost five in a row at 1-4 ATS, and has dropped seven straight SU versus Wisconsin.
Staying with big road favorites, the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes are a 20.5-point road favorite against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Miami has won 11 straight at 8-3 ATS, and as a road favorite has won six in a row both SU and ATS. North Carolina has dropped its last five games SU and ATS, and in the last 10 is 2-7-1 ATS.
The Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators clash in a neutral-site game this week at EverBank Field. The Bulldogs are a 14.5-point favorite and sport a 6-3 record SU and 6-2-1 ATS mark in their last nine versus Florida. The Gators don’t get it done as the underdog, with a 1-9 SU record and 3-7 ATS mark in their last 10.
