College Football Bowls Betting Preview
The seemingly never-ending college football bowl season kicks off this weekend with five games on tap Saturday.
Starting things off is the Cure Bowl between the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Georgia State Panthers. Western Kentucky is a 6.5-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook despite a 1-4 record straight up and 2-3 record against the spread in its last five games. In their last 12, the Hilltoppers are 3-9 ATS and when favored this season they were a money-losing 1-7 ATS. The Panthers somehow got into a bowl game despite their 5-6 SU record and 4-7 ATS mark. They head into the weekend having lost three straight SU and four straight ATS.
In the New Orleans Bowl it’s the Troy Trojans versus the North Texas Mean Green as a 7-point favorite. Troy has won six straight at 4-2 ATS, but as a favorite this season was only 4-7 ATS. North Texas was 8-5 ATS this season, and as an underdog went 2-5 SU and 4-3 ATS. In their last eight bowl games, the Mean Green are 2-6 SU.
Moving on to the Las Vegas Bowl, the Oregon Ducks will face the Boise State Broncos as a 7.5-point favorite. Oregon has won seven in a row SU in December, and the favorite has gone 10-1 and 7-4 ATS in the last 11 Las Vegas Bowls. The Broncos are 2-0 SU and ATS versus Oregon, and they’ve won three straight ATS as an underdog.
In the Camellia Bowl the Arkansas Red Wolves face the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders as a 3.5-point favorite. The Red Wolves were 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS as a favorite this season, and they’ve won three straight SU and ATS versus the Blue Raiders. Middle Tennessee won its last game, which may not be promising as the Blue Raiders are 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in their last six games after a win.
The last bowl game on our list this week is the New Mexico Bowl between the Colorado State Rams and the Marshall Thundering Herd. The Rams are a 5.5-point favorite, but they’ve lost six straight ATS, and they’re 3-6 ATS in their last nine as a favorite. Marshall has a strong 10-3 SU record in bowl games and as an underdog this season was 5-0 ATS.
