MLB Betting: Indians, BoSox Collide at Fenway

A possible playoff preview is on the MLB schedule Tuesday as two American League division leaders, the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox, continue a four-game series in Boston.

Heading into the series opener Monday night, Cleveland was 7-1 in its last eight, while Boston was also rolling at 7-2 in the last nine. The scheduled pitching matchup for Tuesday is Shane Bieber (6-2, 4.27) for Cleveland and Nathan Eovaldi (5-4, 3.62) for Boston.

Bieber posted a no-decision in his last start against the Cincinnati Reds after allowing three runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings. Cleveland won 4-3 as a -167 favorite at Bovada Sportsbook. This will be Bieber’s first career start against Boston.

Eovaldi is coming off a no-decision against the Philadelphia Phillies after allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits in five innings. Boston lost 7-4 as a -108 favorite at Bovada Sportsbook. In three career starts against Cleveland, Eovaldi is 2-1 with a 2.20 ERA.

Surprisingly, this is the first series this season between the Red Sox and Indians. Last year in seven games between them, the Red Sox were 4-3. Boston is 4-2 in its last six at home vs Cleveland.

Rockies have been UNDER machines

In the National League on Tuesday night the red-hot Colorado Rockies should be big favorites when they open up a three-game set with the San Diego Padres.

The Rockies have won four straight and eight of their last nine games. San Diego has been awful lately, with a 1-6 record in the last seven. On Tuesday, San Diego will hand the ball to Robbie Erlin (2-3, 3.33), while Colorado will go with Tyler Anderson (6-5, 4.39).

Erlin posted a no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels last time out after allowing two runs on eight hits in six innings. San Diego lost 3-2 as a -125 favorite. Erlin has faced Colorado five times this season, all out of the bullpen, pitching 5.1 shutout innings with nine strikeouts.

Anderson has been having a tough time lately, and the Rockies have lost his last five starts. In his last outing he picked up a loss against the Houston Astros, getting pounded for nine runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings. Colorado lost 12-1 as a +187 underdog. In three starts against the Padres this season, Anderson is 1-0 with a 2.55 ERA.

Colorado and San Diego have already faced off 12 times this season, with the Rockies holding a slight edge with seven wins. Totals bettors may want to shade the UNDER in this one, as the Rockies are 11-2-1 UNDER in their last 14 games.
