NFL Week 2 Betting Preview and Trends

Week 2 in the NFL begins Thursday night with an AFC North clash between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals.

At Bovada Sportsbook the Ravens are a 1.5-point road underdog. They’re 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven road games, but they’re not as good as a road favorite with a 3-6-1 ATS mark in their last 10. Cincinnati has won three straight both straight up and ATS, and has had a lot of success against Baltimore in recent years with a 7-2 SU record and a 6-3 ATS mark in their last nine meetings.

Moving to Sunday, the Cleveland Browns go for their first win of the season as a 9-point road underdog vs the New Orleans Saints. Last week’s tie against the Pittsburgh Steelers snapped the Browns’ 17-game SU losing streak. Surprisingly, Cleveland is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five vs New Orleans. The Saints, 10-point favorites in their SU loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, are 8-1 SU and 4-5 ATS in their last nine at home.

In the NFC North on Sunday the Minnesota Vikings visit the Green Bay Packers as a 1.5-point underdog. Minnesota is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five vs the Packers but just 2-6-1 SU and 3-6 ATS in the last nine in Green Bay. The Packers are on a four-game ATS losing streak and they’re 1-5 ATS in their last six at home.

Falcons favored by 6 over Panthers

NFC South rivals also square off Sunday when the Atlanta Falcons host the Carolina Panthers as a 6-point favorite. At home against the Panthers, the Falcons have won three straight SU and ATS, and they’re 8-2 SU and ATS in their last 10. Carolina has lost three straight road games but is a solid 8-3 ATS in the last 11 on the road.

In an AFC championship game rematch, the Jacksonville Jaguars face the New England Patriots as a 2-point home underdog. The Patriots own this matchup with eight straight wins and a 5-3 ATS record against Jacksonville. The Jaguars are 6-3 ATS in their last nine games, but as a home underdog they’re 3-5 SU and 5-3 ATS in their last eight.

On Sunday night it’s an NFC East matchup between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, with Dallas a 3-point favorite. The Giants are 1-8 SU and 4-5 ATS in their last nine road games. Dallas isn’t much better at home lately at 2-5 SU and ATS in its last seven. However, the Cowboys are 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five at home vs the Giants.
