College Football Week 1 Betting Preview

Week 1 of the college football season continues Saturday with the first ranked matchup of the new season.

The first Top 25 matchup of the year pits the No. 11 Oregon Ducks against the No. 16 Auburn Tigers. At Bovada Sportsbook, the Tigers are a 3.5-point favorite in this game, which will be played at a neutral site, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Ducks finished last season with three straight wins while going 2-1 against the spread. As an underdog, they are 3-7 straight up and ATS in their last 10.

The Tigers were 4-4 SU and ATS in their last eight games last season. When favored, they’ve won four in a row both SU and ATS.

This is the first meeting between the Ducks and Tigers since they clashed in the national championship game in 2011. The Tigers edged the Ducks 22-19 as a 1-point underdog in that game.

Crimson Tide tabbed as 34-point chalk vs Blue Devils

Saturday also includes the season opener for the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide. They start the season at home against the Duke Blue Devils as a 34-point favorite.

The Crimson Tide had a 16-game winning streak snapped in their last game when they fell to the Clemson Tigers 44-16 as a 5-point favorite in the College Football Playoff National Championship. During its 16-game streak, Alabama was 9-6-1 ATS. When favored by 30-plus points, the Crimson Tide are 30-0 SU but only 9-21 ATS in their last 30.

Duke was 3-4 SU and ATS in its last seven last season, but the Blue Devils are a surprising 5-2 SU and 6-1 ATS in their last seven on the road. When listed as an underdog of 30 points or more, Duke has lost 14 straight while going 8-6 ATS.

In their last matchup back in 2010, Alabama crushed Duke 62-13 as a 24-point road favorite.

Bulldogs big road favorites at Vanderbilt

If you’re looking for a big road favorite on Saturday, the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs fit the bill as a 21.5-point road favorite vs the Vanderbilt Commodores.

The Bulldogs are 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS in their last six road games. As a road favorite, they’ve delivered for bettors recently, at 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS in their last 13.

Vanderbilt was 3-3 SU in its last six but an impressive 5-1 ATS. As a home underdog, the Commodores have lost five in a row SU and ATS, and in their last 30 they’re 5-25 SU and 13-16-1 ATS.

In the last 12 matchups between Georgia and Vanderbilt, the Bulldogs have dominated at 11-1 SU and 7-5 ATS.
