NFL Week 2 Betting Preview and Trends
Week 2 in the NFL features some interesting road favorites, including one huge spread.
Starting with the road favorites, the Dallas Cowboys visit the Washington Redskins as a 5-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook.
Last week Dallas began the season by breezing past the New York Giants 35-17 as a 7-point favorite. With the win, Dallas is now 9-2 straight up and 7-3-1 against the spread in its last 11 games. As a road favorite, the Cowboys have been money for bettors, at 6-1 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven.
Washington started the season with a 32-27 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles as a 10-point underdog. The Redskins are now 1-7 SU and 4-4 ATS in their last eight. They’re no better at home where they’ve dropped four straight at 1-3 ATS.
Last season Dallas was 1-1 SU and ATS vs Washington. In this matchup, the home team has won three straight SU and ATS, but in Washington the Redskins are 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS in their last six vs Dallas.
Raiders have won 3 straight at home as underdog
Also listed as road favorites Sunday are the Kansas City Chiefs, 7.5-point chalk at the Oakland Raiders.
The Chiefs defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 40-26 as a 3.5-point favorite last week. Kansas City started last season 8-1 ATS but ended the season 3-6-1 ATS in its last 10. As a road favorite, the Chiefs are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five.
Oakland upset the Denver Broncos 24-16 as a 3-point underdog last week. At home, the Raiders have won three in a row SU and four straight ATS, all as the underdog.
The Chiefs were 2-0 SU and 1-1 ATS vs the Raiders last season. In their last nine against Oakland, the Chiefs are 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS.
Dolphins 5-1 SU, ATS in last 6 at home vs Patriots
The biggest spread on the odds list Sunday belongs to the New England Patriots. At Bovada, New England is a massive 19-point favorite at the Miami Dolphins.
The Patriots dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 33-3 win as 5.5-point favorites last week. The Patriots’ road record is only 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10, and when favored by 19 points or more, they’re 5-0 SU and 0-5 ATS in their last five.
Miami was crushed 59-10 as a 7-point underdog vs the Baltimore Ravens last week. As a home underdog, the Dolphins are 4-6 SU and 4-5-1 ATS in their last 10.
Miami was 1-1 SU and ATS against New England last season, including a 34-33 upset in December as a 9-point underdog. At home, the Dolphins are a surprising 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six vs New England.
