Las Vegas - What a GLORIOUS day for betting!!!
Start on the baseball diamond with the Astros/Rays game tonight. Just close your eyes and listen to the sound of Gerrit Cole mowing down Tampa batters like a high end John Deere 942OR tractor, which goes for $269,000 and change...USED! If I were voting, Cole would share the Cy Young with Justin Verlander. He has one less win, a better ERA, and more Ks. He has not lost a game since May 22, and his September numbers read like a video game (5-0, 42 innings, 5 earned runs, 1.07 ERA, and, and, AND, 74 Ks!) Scary. Looks like Tampa will throw Blake Snell, last year's Cy Young winner. Sadly, his recent work does not resemble last season. He missed over two months after having surgery to remove six bone chips from his elbow. Since coming back, he has started three games, and has not gone more than two innings. Even the best Blake would have trouble with Houston, but half-a-Blake AIN'T gonna be around long.
On the college football board, you have a meaningless matchup between two teams, Maryland and Rutgers, that were outscored last week by a combined total of 111-0. For real, ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN to ZERO! And the Terps are a 13 point favorite. What? Okay, I'm buying. Why? Because the Scarlet Knights have been outscored in Big Ten play this year, 82-0!
And how about a delicious three team 10 point teaser? Gotcha. Start with Oklahoma State and drop the Cowboys from -10 points to pick'em against Texas Tech. The grab SMU and take the Mustangs from -13 to -3 points against Tulsa. Close up shop with Duke, and drop the Blue Devils from -4 to +6 points against Pittsburgh.
