NFL Betting: Super Bowl 55 Matchup Odds
According to the oddsmakers, Super Bowl 55 will be a rematch of Super Bowl 54.
The favorite on the Super Bowl 55 matchup futures odds at Bovada Sportsbook is an encore performance between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers at +1500.
It’s worth noting that the same two teams haven’t met in consecutive Super Bowls since 1994 (Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills), so you may not want to bet the farm on a rematch.
Chiefs, Niners, Ravens common thread in matchup odds
The top 10 matchups on the odds list at Bovada all include at least one of three teams – the Chiefs, the 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. That should come as no surprise since they’re also the top favorites on the Super Bowl 55 futures.
On the matchup odds, checking in behind a Super Bowl rematch is the Ravens vs the 49ers at +1600 (in what would be a Super Bowl 47 rematch), the Chiefs vs the New Orleans Saints at +1800, and the Ravens vs the Chiefs at +1800.
Tom Brady’s arrival in Tampa Bay has pushed the Buccaneers into the Super Bowl matchup conversation. The matchups involving the Buccaneers that are getting the best odds are Tampa Bay vs Kansas City, and Tampa Bay vs Baltimore, both at +2200.
Bucs/Brady vs Pats matchup offered at +6600
One of the most interesting Super Bowl matchups on the list is the Buccaneers vs Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots. If you think that’s even a possibility, you can get it at +6600.
If you expect a clean slate in this year’s Super Bowl matchup without the Chiefs or 49ers, and you’re also discounting the Ravens, the best odds are going to the Patriots vs the Saints at +4500 and the Pittsburgh Steelers vs the Saints at +5000.
The Saints have one of the top offenses in the league, so seeing them in the Super Bowl wouldn’t shock anyone. The Patriots returning to the big game without Brady or the Steelers riding an aging Ben Roethlisberger to another Super Bowl appearance seem like much bigger stretches.
If you’re looking for a value bet on the Super Bowl matchups odds, how about the Tennessee Titans vs the San Francisco 49ers at +4000. The Titans made it to the AFC championship game a year ago and had wins over both Baltimore and Kansas City.
