Las Vegas - No one is catching Kaycee for the top seed in the AFC, but Buffalo could lock down the #2 seed, and a bye, with a win over New England tonight and the Dolphins next week. OOPS! Nevermind. This is 2020, so of course, the NFL has changed the rules. There will be ONLY one BYE for the top seed. But, if both the Buffs and Steelers finish 13-3, Buffalo owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Pittsburgh for the #2 seed.
Winning the AFC East for the first time in 25 years, and ending the Patriots 11 year run in the penthouse, is as YUGE as it gets. The Bills would LOVE to sweep the Belichicks tonight and get ready for the Dolphins. They've been getting stronger as the season winds down, winning seven of the last eight straight up, and pitching a 6-0 spread PERFECTO since November 8. The only loss came at Arizona and you probably remember the 43-yard Hail Murray when DeAndre Hopkins snatched the ball in the end zone with :02 left on the clock in between three Buffalo defenders. But the Buffs are not just winning, they're WINNING, by an average of 15 points per game over the last month.
After a stunning 45-0 win against the Chargers, the Pats have lost twice, failed to cover twice, and been outscored by a margin of 46-15. OUCH! Sure, you probably looked at some trends, and saw that the Patriots are 12-1 in their last 13 games as a home dog. Two of those covers were this season, the OTHER TEN were with Tommy Terrific at QB. Then you probably found the other 12-1 stat with Buffalo covering 12 of the last 13 as a favorite. And yes, that was WITH Josh Allen at QB! We can now say without any kind of blowback, Cam Newton has been a DISASTER! He is the 30th rated QB in the NFL (79.6), and has TWICE as many INTs (10) as TDs (5). Of the 13 games he started, Cam has been held without a TD eight times. Another OUCH!
Just keep on eye on the status of Bills WR Stefon Diggs. He is listed as probable, and if the co-league leader in catches with 111 should not play, we would drop this play down to only a few pennies. With Diggs, we feel confident that Buffalo WILL circle the wagons for another W!
