Las Vegas - As you know, we're always working a day ahead, and this is what flew off the keyboard yesterday.

If you're wondering why there has been a SIX POINT SWING in the Cotton Bowl, from Florida -3, to Oklahoma -3, here's the answer. The Gators starting wide receivers, Kadarius Toney and Trevon Grimes, will opt out of the game to prepare for the 2021 NFL draft. Is that a big deal Eck? You BET! Toney is Florida's top WR, leading the team in catches (70), receiving yards (984) and TDs (10). Grimes ranks third on the team in those three categories, receptions (38), receiving yards (589) and TDs (9). Then you have Jacob Copeland who will miss the bowl game after testing positive for COVID-19. Finally, to completely devastate QB Kyle Trask's targets, TE Kyle Pitts, ONLY a first team AP All-America, has also opted out. So, we're not gonna compare college football to the NFL, but lemme take you back to the Browns/Jets game in week 16. Cleveland lost its top four WRs and wound up on the short end of a 23-16 score against the New Yorkers. We're talking JETS! Baker Mayfield was an UGLIFIED 28 of 53! Not saying Trask is gonna look that bad, but if the Gators can get an ENTIRE new receiving corps ready in like 11 days, bravo.

But it's Florida's defense that has sprung a bunch of leaks. Not saying that Oklahoma is anywhere near Alabama, but the Gators were SCORCHED for 52 points by the Crimson Tide, and also allowed a relatively weak LSU team to drop 37 on the scoreboard.

On the other side of the field, the Sooners, NEVER really known for their defense, have been pretty amazing since allowing Texas to bomb a 45 spot on 'em back in October. Since that game, the Okies have allowed 14, 28, 9, 13, 14 and 21. Of course TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Iowa State do NOT have the offensive capabilities of Florida. But still, that's an average of 16.5 points per game, and that's pretty STINGY!

Gonna ride The Sooner Schooner all the way to the bank!

So, this morning, we wake up in Vegas and the line has JUMPED another four points to Oklahoma -7. LOVED the Sooners when the game first opened at +3, still loved, but not in CAPS, the Okies at -3, but now at -7, we would have to dial back. Under normal circumstances, we would buy back Florida at +7 for a DELICIOUS TEN POINT MIDDLE, but with all the opt outs and injuries, I'm not takin' the Gator bait.

And now for my favorite, the MAYO BOWL!!! Believe me when I tell you that no one, NO ONE, is a bigger fan of Mayo than me. Have never actually tasted Duke's, but will do as soon as I can find a jar online. As for the game, Wisconsin appears to be the choice, to win, but at -9.5, we might just have to take a peek at Wake Forest.

Wisky comes in with a 3-3 record, and has NOT beaten a team with a winning record. The three wins came against Michigan (2-4), Minnesota (3-4) and Illinois (2-6), while the Demon Deacons come to the Mayo party with a 4-4 mark. We were gonna give Wake Forest a tumble, but then found out that Carlos 'Boogie' Basham Jr., Wake's star on defense, has decided to skip the game to prepare for the NFL draft. And RB Kenneth Walker III is also opting out. So, we'll just Boogie on down the road, slather some MAYO on our Tuna sandwich, and watch. No skin in this game.
