Las Vegas - Tom Izzo's Michigan State team might not go dancing for the first time in 23 years. Izzo took over in East Lansing in 1995/96 and his first two teams played in the NIT Tournament. After that, they NEVER MISSED the NCCA party. Sitting at 12-9, the Spartans need to sweep the board, but it ain't gonna be easy. After Ohio State, they have Maryland away, Indiana at home, then a double dose of Michigan. If they win four of five, they should be in. If they win three of five they could be in because the Big Ten is the best conference in the country, and could send 10 teams to the Dance. MSU is coming off solid wins over Indiana and Illinois, while the Buckeyes do have some issues. Kyle Young, one their key pieces, is out, and Musa Jallow is listed as questionable. That leaves Ohio State with just eight players, so we're talking kinda thin. Izzo played ELEVEN guys in the win against Illinois, and should be able to wear down the Bucks. Getting points is a bonus, so BOOK IT!
If you wanna step on the ice, grab the Capitals over the Penguins. Washington and Pittsburgh just played back-to-back on February 14 and 16. The Caps lost the first game 6-3, then came back to win the second game 3-1. The D.C. kids just lost to the Pens Tuesday night, 3-2, but we're expecting them to bounce strong with a sweet W.
