MLB Betting: 2021 World Series Odds Update

The Los Angeles Dodgers have lived up to their billing so far as the favorites in 2021 World Series futures odds.

At Bovada Sportsbook, the defending World Series champion Dodgers began the season atop the World Series futures, and those odds have only gotten better, up to +300. Los Angeles has the best record in baseball right now at 14-4, which includes a perfect 6-0 mark at home.

Favored Dodgers have best record in baseball

Trevor Bauer has earned his paycheck so far with a 2-0 record and a 2.42 ERA. What should scare the rest of baseball is that the Dodgers are rolling even though Cody Bellinger has appeared in only four games so far and Mookie Betts has missed six games.

While the Dodgers are off to a hot start, the team following them in World Series odds, the New York Yankees, are floundering. Despite an awful start, the Yankees remain at +650 in World Series futures. New York began the week 5-10 on a five-game losing streak and its supposedly stout lineup has scored the fewest runs in the American League. There’s still lots of time to right the ship, but if this is the real Yankees, a futures bet may be just throwing your money away.

Braves could represent attractive value pick

Rounding out the rest of the top five in World Series futures odds are the San Diego Padres at +800, New York Mets at +1000 and Atlanta Braves at +1200.

The Mets and Braves have traded odds since the season began. The Mets’ starting pitching has been electric to start the campaign, led by Jacob deGrom and Marcus Stroman, and it could get even better when Carlos Carrasco and Noah Syndergaard return.

The Braves already have a pair of four-game losing streaks. Ronald Acuna Jr. has been crushing the ball and if the Braves can put a few early-season troubles behind them, they could be great value at +1200.

Pale Hose slip in World Series futures odds

A few early notable declines on the World Series futures include the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays.

Chicago started out at +850 but has fallen to +1400 following a disappointing start, with Carlos Rodon’s no-hitter one of the few bright spots so far.

Tampa Bay sits second in the AL East right now and has won four straight, including a sweep of the Yankees. Despite that, their World Series odds have dropped from +2800 to +3500 this week.
