PGA Betting: Wells Fargo Championship Odds

Six of the top 10 ranked golfers in the world will be in the field this week when the PGA heads to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Wells Fargo Championship.

At Bovada Sportsbook, the co-favorites this weekend are No. 2-ranked Justin Thomas and No. 3-ranked Jon Rahm, both at +1100.

Thomas, Rahm share top odds for Wells Fargo

Thomas is coming off tying for 13th place at last week’s Valspar Championship. He has one win on the tour this season, at the Players Championship, and four top-10 finishes.

This will be Rahm’s first tour event since he tied for fifth at the Masters four weeks ago. That fifth-place finish was Rahm’s sixth top-10 finish of the season, but he has yet to win on the tour this year.

The rest of the top five on the Wells Fargo odds list at Bovada are Bryson DeChambeau at +1400, and Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, both at +1800. This will be the first tournament since the Masters for the entire trio.

McIlroy has been a very bad bet lately. He has missed the cut in his last two tournaments, including the Masters where he was 6 over after two rounds. If McIlroy is going to turn things around, Quail Hollow may be the place to do it. He has won this tournament twice before, in 2010 and 2015, and he also finished second in 2012. His win in 2015 was the most dominating victory in the tournament’s history, by seven strokes.

Homa topped Dahmen to win 2019 tournament

Last year’s Wells Fargo Championship was cancelled due to the pandemic. That makes the defending champion Max Homa, who won in 2019. He shot 15 under par in 2019 to best Joel Dahmen by three strokes. Homa returns to defend his title this week as a +3300 underdog at Bovada, while Dahmen is a +8000 underdog.

Last week at the Valspar Championship, Sam Burns recorded his first career PGA win. Burns isn’t in the field this weekend, so the top finisher from the Valspar is runner-up Keegan Bradley at +6600. Viktor Hovland, who placed third last week, is listed at +2000 at the Wells Fargo.

Along with Homa and McIlroy, there are several other former Wells Fargo winners in this week’s field. They are 2018 winner Jason Day (+5000), 2017 winner Brian Harman (+5000), 2016 winner James Hahn (+15000), 2014 winner J.B. Holmes (+25000), 2012 winner Rickie Fowler (+8000) and 2011 winner Lucas Glover (+6600).
