NFL Week 2 Betting Odds Preview
After an upset-filled opening week in the NFL, will the favorites rebound in Week 2 to give bettors more of a fighting chance?
Week 2 includes a pair of AFC East matchups, starting with the Buffalo Bills at the Miami Dolphins. At Bovada Sportsbook, the Bills are 3.5-point road favorites.
Buffalo got the season started on the wrong foot last week with a 23-16 upset loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers as a 6.5-point favorite. Buffalo is now 1-3 against the spread in its last four, but as road favorites the Bills are 8-1 straight up and 6-3 ATS in their last nine.
Miami is coming off a 17-16 upset win over the New England Patriots as a 3.5-point underdog. The Dolphins are a money-making 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games and at home they’ve won six straight ATS and nine of their last 10.
Buffalo has won five straight against Miami at 3-2 ATS. This matchup has been an easy OVER pick for bettors with five straight OVERs and a 10-2 OVER mark in the last 12.
Total has gone UNDER in 7 of Patriots’ last 9
In the other AFC East clash, the Patriots are 6-point road favorites against the New York Jets.
Following their upset loss to Miami last week, the Patriots are 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games. On the road, New England is 2-6 SU and ATS in its last eight. For totals bettors, New England is 7-1-1 UNDER in the last nine.
Last week, the Jets lost to the Carolina Panthers 19-14 as a 3.5-point underdog. In their last 17 games, the Jets are 2-15 SU and 6-11 ATS. At home, they’re 1-7 SU and 4-4 ATS in their last eight.
New England has won 10 straight against the Jets with a 6-4 ATS record. In New York, the Patriots are only 2-6 ATS in their last eight.
Buccaneers double-digit favorites over Falcons
The largest spread on the board this weekend is the Atlanta Falcons at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the home side a 12.5-point favorite at Bovada.
Tampa Bay escaped with a 31-29 win over the Dallas Cowboys last week as a 9-point favorite. That extended the Buccaneers’ winning streak to nine games, during which they’re 6-3 ATS. At home, Tampa Bay is 4-1 ATS in its last five.
Last week, Atlanta was pummeled by the Philadelphia Eagles 32-6 as a 3.5-point favorite. The Falcons have lost six straight games and are 2-4 ATS in that span.
Tampa Bay is 3-1 SU in its last four against Atlanta but only 2-2 ATS. In their last five games in Tampa Bay, the Falcons are 4-1 SU and 2-3 ATS.
