Rams still favored by 4 points over Bengals in Super Bowl 56
There has been a small line move for totals bettors. The total opened at 49.5 but has since dropped to 48.5. If you took the OVER on 49.5, let’s hope for your sake the Bengals and Rams don’t combine to score 49 points.
While line watchers have had a pretty boring week, there has been plenty to talk about for those watching the injury reports. Both Cincinnati and Los Angeles have had a few notable names show up on the report and are thankful for the extra bye week before the big game.
Let’s start with Cincinnati. The most notable names on the Bengals’ injury report are offensive lineman Jackson Carman and tight end C.J. Uzomah. Carman was added to the injury list due to a back injury that currently has him listed as questionable. If he misses the big game, or even if he isn’t at 100 percent, that could hurt the Bengals’ chances of stopping the Rams’ Aaron Donald.
Carman, Uzomah questionable to play Sunday for Bengals
Uzomah suffered an MCL sprain in the AFC championship game and is also questionable for the Super Bowl. He hasn’t returned to practice yet as he continues to rehab the injury. If he can’t practice this week, he may not be on the field Sunday.
One bright spot on the injury report for Cincinnati was the removal of defensive end Trey Hendrickson. After battling an illness, he returned to full practice and should be good to go for the Super Bowl.
For the Rams, their injury report has plenty of recognizable names, including running back Cam Akers, cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Tyler Higbee and wide receiver Van Jefferson. All of them are currently listed as questionable.
Akers, Ramsey among notables on Rams’ injury report
Akers missed practice last week due to a shoulder injury he suffered in the NFC championship game. Ramsey was added to the injury list due to a shoulder injury as well. Higbee hurt his knee in the NFC title tilt and hasn’t seen the practice field since. Jefferson has been limited in practice with a bad knee but appears on track to suit up on Sunday.
Two other less recognizable names on the L.A. injury report that bettors should keep an eye on are safety Taylor Rapp and offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth.
Rapp has been out since Week 18 due to a concussion but returned to the practice field for the first time last week. If he can play, he would be a welcome addition to the Rams secondary.
Whitworth was added to the injury list due to a quad injury. The veteran is tasked with stopping Hendrickson and if he’s out Sunday, it would be a big blow to the Rams’ pass protection.
