popp to the top

Las Vegas - Willie Green did a superb job in his first season as head coach of the Pelicans, but C'MON, Gregg Popovich is on the other bench. Willie has coached all of 82 games in his career, while Popp has the MOST WINS (1,344) in the history of the NBA. Popp has also coached a 'few' playoff games (284), has FIVE RINGS and a little piece of GOLD from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. So, we're giving Popp a 'slight' edge. Put the coaching matchup on the side and look at the nicks & bruises New Orleans is dealing with tonight. Brandon Ingram, the Pels leading scorer, is listed as questionable with a hamstring issue. And center Jonas Valanciunas is also listed as probable/questionable with an ankle. Ingram missed the last three games, and if he does not step on the court, obviously, the line will drop, but we're still on San Antonio. The Spurs won three of four this season including the last meeting in New Orleans, a 107-103 W as a 6-point dog. They've also been RIDICULOUS against the spread down the stretch, covering nine of the last 10 with one push. But Eck, the Pelicans have won five of the last eight, so why you looking the other way? Because two of those five wins came against the Blazers, two against the Lakers and one against the Kings. All HORRIBLE teams. At plus five and a half points, gotta have some POPP on my menu this evening. And of course if you can, buy the hook to plus six!
